M.A.C. x Heatherette: Club Kid Glam, Limited Edition Lore

"They didn’t come to blend in. They came to blind."

If Barbie ran a nightclub in 2007 and hired drag royalty to design her makeup, it would look like the MAC x Heatherette Collection. Electric pink, holographic packaging. Neon shades that screamed confidence. This wasn’t subtle glam. This was unapologetic, flashbulb-in-your-face, glitter-soaked performance.

And that’s exactly why we love it.

Created in collaboration with downtown NYC icons Richie Rich and Traver Rains—a.k.a. Heatherette—this MAC collab was a full technicolor fantasy. The duo, former club kids turned fashion provocateurs, launched the Heatherette fashion label in the late '90s and early 2000s. Their runway shows were legendary—equal parts spectacle and statement—with models like Amanda Lepore, Paris Hilton, and even Pamela Anderson strutting in outrageous, candy-colored, punk-glam chaos. Heatherette wasn’t just fashion—it was performance art with a pulse.

Their makeup collection with MAC brought all of that to the beauty counter.

💿 Inside the Collection:

  • Two iconic Trios: Each with eye-popping pigments in club-ready shades.

  • Hollywood Nights Lipstick: Bright fuchsia, matte, and a cult favorite.

  • Sock Hop Lipglass: A sheer coral gloss that screams early 2000s.

  • Holographic Compact Shells: Hot pink with silver MAC x Heatherette logo—arguably the most collectible packaging of its era.

  • Store Display Backdrop: Yes, we have the real deal display from the MAC counters in-store.

  • Limited Edition Coloring Book & Pencils: A whimsical bonus only real collectors know about—and yes, they came with this line.

  • "YES $$$" Nail Polish: A rare, shimmering silver shade that tied the whole party look together—this one turns heads every time.

🧠 Rare Glam Trivia:

  • The Heatherette compacts were never reissued. Not once. That makes them among the rarest and most sought-after limited MAC items.

  • There were unofficial fourth items rumored to be exclusive backstage giveaways during fashion week. True? No one’s confirmed. But collectors whisper.

  • The line was only sold at select MAC stores and Nordstroms, not online. So snagging it in the wild took actual hustle.

💄 Collector’s Note:

At Sparkle Society XO, we’ve got the real deal: untouched pigments, the original store display, the coloring book and pencils—the whole neon dream. Our Heatherette babies are lined up like divas backstage at a runway show.

This wasn’t just a limited release. It was a moment—when MAC let queer culture, Y2K neon, and fashion absurdity run wild on the makeup counter.

And it still slaps.

Because some collections are cute.
And others?

They’re icons in holographic shells.
